Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. Markella

The Ladies Philoptochos is a women's philanthropic society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. When translated, Philoptochos means “Friends Of The Poor.”

This national society has been offering its philanthropy since 1931 through a multitude of programs that make a difference not only in the lives of people in the United States, but throughout the world.

Its mission (and ours) is to offer assistance to the poor, the sick, the hungry, the homeless, the elderly, those with disabilities and all others in need both within and outside of our community.

Here at St. Markella, in addition to assisting those in need, we have worked hard to help our Parish Council, Greek School, Sunday School and other parish programs to grow and prosper by supporting their goals and endeavors.  It is our belief that by sharing our love, support, assistance and philanthropy with others, we are creating a kinder, and better world for our children and for our fellow men and women.

If you would like to join a group of women whose aim is to make a difference in the lives of others, please consider joining us-we need you!
